Water resistance is determined by a small gasket and a tiny O-ring that is generally made from rubber or silicone. The gasket forms seals around the stem of the crown, pushers and correctors, sitting inside the case of the crystal. A watch’s water resistance will weaken with age so it is important to get it checked at least once a year, and changed every two to three years.
