It’s time to take a look at the Luminox NAVY SEAL XS3581BO, a new arrival at Watch Depot, and the first Swiss-made watch to be featured on our blog. Luminox is a United States-based watchmaker, who manufactures its tech-savvy designs in Switzerland.
The beautiful Luminox watch we're looking at today has been built in collaboration with the NAVY SEAL foundation, and continues the land-standing partnership between Luminox and the U.S NAVY SEALS.
If you're yet to be introduced to this unique watchmaker, we'll take you through the ins and outs of their design throughout our review.
Overview:
Dial & Strap
Straight away, you can see how impressive this watch is visually. The all-black finish looks fantastic, especially the coarse matte finish used on the dial. I’m also a big fan of the uni-directional bezel, it has a nice technical look with some number inlays a few shades darker.
Given that this is a very practical military watch, it's surprising that it looks so good. You could easily take the XS3581BO out on a casual or formal dress occasion.
The case and strap have more of that same ruggedness, with a really appealing texture flowing through the band design. Overall, it’s just hard to fault the aesthetics of this chronograph watch. If you’re curious about size, this timepiece has a 44mm diameter and 14mm height, which is pretty slim for a diving watch.
Luminox Technology
If there’s one thing you want to see on a Luminox watch, it’s their famous Light Technology on the hands and bezel insert. This feature will stay active 24/7, and does not require an external light source to charge. This is what makes Luminox’s technology so adept for NAVY SEAL missions, reliability and easy use.
You might find that this 'lume' is not as bright as a Seiko watch, but it does last a whole lot longer. After some testing, we were able to get some good visibility from the timepiece with the lights out, which is a selling point for this watch.
Another signature of Luminox is the Carbonox case. This carbon fibre construction has been used on the NAVY SEAL XS3581BO, and you can feel the difference.
Carbonox has a great strength and a rigid feel that gives you confidence the Luminox isn’t going to break. And despite its hardness, the case is also lighter than most case materials.
Specifications
As you’d hope, the rest of this black watch’s performance keeps up with the signature visuals. This diver can withstand 200 metres pressure and comes with a durable, and super comfortable, rubber strap. You’ll have no problems taking this out swimming, especially if you’re brave enough to try it out at night with the Luminox Light Technology hands.
As this is a quartz chronograph, you are going to get a lot of use out of this timepiece. I’m thankful that the stopwatch functionality gives me more reason to take this wristwatch out.
If you’re yet to get yourself a Luminox watch, this is a great place to start. This timepiece showcases what the brand is all about, quality, technology, and undeniable style.
