Build
Virtually every aspect about this watch is made to mimic the visual aesthetics of our planet, a feat that G-Shock designers (like usual) have nailed. The base model is the metal-covered, big-case GM-110, coming in at 51.9mm lug-to-lug with a width of 48.8mm and height of 16.9mm. There’s no hiding that this watch is on the larger size, it’s made to be seen and in the words of G-Shock themselves “take you into outer space for a true-to-life view of the earth”. Thankfully, G-Shock is an old hand at constructing large watches, so the piece sits nicely on the wrist.
The metal bezel is complete with blue ion plating that has a polished sheen, resembling the deep blue of the ocean. Across the case, the piece is detailed with white patterns to create detailed clouds floating across the earth and the sub dial indicator is in the shape of a satellite.
On the dial, we see a part complete with the green terrain of the earth, making it feel like you are looking down at the planet from outer space. The inverted LCD display has a blue background with white numbers which is surprising for an inverted display, however, it makes sense within the motif.
A black resin band and metal clasp keeps the watch in place and the back of the case is illustrated with a dotted map of the globe, with Japan at the centre - which is a unique addition to the design.
