Not all watches are created equal. Sometimes watchmakers play it safe and minimalist, and that’s great, but it’s even better to see them let loose once in a while. Unique watches don’t have to be a puzzle-on-a-strap to be different, sometimes it’s the small decisions that can really set a watch apart from the others. We’ve compiled a list below of our favourite watches that have those exciting details you either love or hate.
You might be thinking, ‘Can these watches really be unique if they are compiled into a list of similarly unique watches?’ Fair point, you have proposed a deep philosophical question that we are unable to answer, so we’ll just show you.

Seiko Presage SSA426J
This Seiko Presage watch is one of the most unique they’ve made, from its brown, rose gold, and black colour scheme to its open heart. It’s not the window into the watch’s movement that makes this watch so unique (although it does set it apart) but the way Seiko pull it off.
The open heart is set next to an overlapping 24-hour subdial and even cuts into the 9 o’ clock index. Pair this with domed glass and a black and rose gold bezel, and this timepiece is a handsomely unique dress watch. Oh, and that comfortable fabric strap isn’t something you see much from Seiko either.
Guess GW0300L1 Quattro
Guess aren’t exactly known for their timepieces, but they’ve come up with some really interesting designs in their collection. Most impressive of all is this Quattro clear Guess watch, with its see-through glass dial and glitzy ‘4G’ symbol housed in a high polish stainless steel case.
You might notice that this watch doesn’t have any number indices; but the hard-edged serifs on the ‘4G’ logo do line up with the 12, 3, 6, and 9 markers. It’s more accessory than timepiece, but there’s no doubt it’s an appealing and unique look.
Citizen Bullhead AN3660-81L Record label Tsuno
Reinterpreting the coveted Citizen Challenge Timers of old, the AN3660-81L Bullhead Tsuno is one of the Japanese brand’s most inventive. This chronograph watch comes set in a tiled steel bracelet and smooth case, but can you figure out where it gets its name?
The Bullhead channels a classic stopwatch, with the chronograph pushers set at the top of its case resembling bull horns. Even the Tsuno tag means ‘horn’ in Japanese. All the aspects that make this watch special also make it super attractive to collectors and watch connoisseurs, and we recommend giving one a try.

Fossil 'Grant' ME3099
The Fossil ‘Grant’ ME3099 is a great pick for unique automatic watches. The skeleton allows you a great look at the inner workings of this mechanical timepiece, and pairs nicely with the rustic charm of Fossil's Grant line. It's not as crazy as some of the other selections on our list, but it's a great place to start if you want a unique watch.
This Fossil’s brown leather strap gives the steel case and cream dial a lot of life. Joined by the neat roman numeral markers, this adventurous look sets the watch apart from many of its contemporaries.
G-Shock GA2200NN Digital Glitch
If the glitch aesthetic wasn’t enough, G-Shock elected to finish the piece with a transparent strap. And, well… it works.
Even with its unique details, the G-Shock Digital Glitch presents itself neatly. The flashes of lime green and turquoise are perfectly balanced by the black dial and case — the negative digital display, too. Full of digital features and typical strength, this G-Shock is a great affordable choice.

G-Shock DWE5600HG-1 Gold Chain
We have to mention this recent release if we’re talking about G-shock watches with transparent straps. Paying homage to the hip-hop roots of G-Shock’s popularity, the Gold Chain model comes with a one-of-a-kind dial and three separate straps and cases.
You can mix and match three sets of colours: gold, black, and transparent. Few men's watches have ever allowed you to swap cases, but maybe more should, as experimenting with the G-Shock Gold Chain is pure joy.
Seiko SNP159J Premier
The more you look at this Seiko Premier watch, the more questions you have. Why do the lugs jump out of the case like that? Is that a world time subdial? Even the crown sits in a setting of stainless steel.
With all its quirks, this Seiko watch is still an elegant timepiece. The dial is textured neatly and the dark blue hands are a nice touch. We’re big fans of that bracelet, too, with a doubled-up steel link style.
Timex Coca-Cola Unity TW2V25800
Ever wanted a Coca-Cola watch? The Timex Coca-Cola Unity takes inspiration from the famous ‘hilltop’ ad that Coke ran back in the 70s. The pleas for peace and harmony are well represented in this unique A cream dial plays host to the ‘PEACE’ lettering and rainbow, as well as soft green indices. Timex have added some funky design to the hands, which look really good. All this is set in a vintage steel link bracelet that ties this limited edition piece together with aplomb.
Casio Vintage A100WEG-9A
Sporting an all-gold look, this vintage Casio watch has classic charm. Although it comes with the digital features of a modern The multicolour buttons and sleek bracelet culminate into an aesthetically pleasing package. The shiny gold tone and bevelled edges don’t hurt the watch’s looks either.
