These are the G-SHOCK G-STEEL GM-2100YMG models: the silvery GM-2100YMG-8A and the gold GM-2100YMG-9A. Belonging to the G-Steel family, they must use some stainless steel, but the main twist to these models does not use any metal at all...

The Game Changer: Newly Developed Silicon Band

The big change in these models is the newly developed silicone band. It's new to the G-Shock family and it's all about comfort and flexibility.

Flexibility and Wearability

The new silicone band is super flexible, and likely the most flexible silicone band on the market. It also is quite light, meaning these models are great if you want a G-STEEL watch without the G-STEEL weight. They weigh in at a modest 84 grams each.

Material and Comfort

This band is double-sided, with the outside taking on a shiny metallic finish, while the inside is a soft to the touch, black silicone.

Protection and Durability

The metal bezel isn't just for looks. It gives extra protection against scratches, and can really take a beating. With it's fine, brushed texture, it is able to catch the light beautifully, and compliments the otherwise polished surfaces on the case.

Dimensions and Specs

Diameter: 44.4mm

Lug-to-lug: 49.3mm

Thickness: 11.8mm

The lug-to-lug and case diameter measurements give you an idea as to how big the watch face is, while the thickness measurement lets you know how far it'll stick out from your wrist. Overall these are fairly large watches, but aren't over the top. For a G-SHOCK, it is fairly modest.

These new releases from are great. They mix flashiness and comfort in a tried and tested CasiOak design. The stainless steel bezel adds durability, and the silicone band feels great.
